Single Sign-On (SSO)
Outdated Article. See Single Sign-on Authentication with OAuth 2.0
Recently, someone asked us through e-mail about Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities in Connections Online 4.0. Currently, we do not have any SSO functionality, but we have plans to support OpenID in the future.
What does this mean for organizations who use Microsoft Active Directory for internal SSO? Well, Active Directory uses something called Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), and there are people working on ways to connect LDAP and OpenID. One group can be found at http://www.openid-ldap.org/. Using those tools, it should be possible to log in to Connections Online 4.0 using your Active Directory account in the future.
Personally, I also expect Microsoft to implement OpenID directly into Active Directory. They have already expressed interest in supporting OpenID with their CardSpace and Windows Live products.
