Running Total Metrics

It would be nice if metrics had an option that could keep a running total of their trend values for a period of time. For example the first value is 10 and the second is 15. The current value would change from 10 to 25.

Ideally this would have a date or date range where the values accumulate and then are reset once the start date is reached again.

The most used case would probably start on Jan 1st and go throughout the year. Starting over again for the next year.
