Update to Connections Online 4.0 - December 16, 2008
Increased Speed (the production database has been moved to a larger server with more “horsepower” to improve the User experience. The security has also been improved -- security checking for each user within the database has been adjusted to make that process much more efficient. Neither of these changes will impact the User interface)
Archiving (you will now be able to archive metrics [from Organization, Department and Individual Connection tab] and projects from Organizations and Departments. Once an item is archived, you may delete it or reset the metric information on the main tab – and still be able to view the archived item by clicking the view archive symbol. The archived item will no longer be available for editing. The archived item will be date stamped so you will know when the item was archived.
Only the Site Administrator will have the authority to archive these elements. If the Site Administrator archives from the Site Admin tab, the Site Administrator will be able to archive the entire site at one time.
Or the Site Administrator, upon request, may archive metrics or projects from the across the application. Archiving done from the individual modules can be done by using the check mark, select the metric or project, you want to archive, then click on the archive symbol. The selected items will be archived.
To view the elements of that module that have been archived, click the view archive symbol.)
Reports (Organization, Department, Project and People reports are now available in a Report Module located on the sidebar of each page. These report templates will allow you to navigate and view application data from the report template. (I.e. when you open the Organization report, using the navigation header and Org/Dept dropdown, you will be able to view the data of other Organizations and Departments Connections without having to navigate to the specific page. The same is true for Projects and the People Connection Reports.)
There is also a Resource Utilization Report that will allow you to view the tasks for which each department has allocated resources. You can also “roll up” departments as well as view tasks that have been completed.
Security (You will now be able to set security on the modules throughout the application so that you can deny access to individuals or security groups.)
