Westlake, OHIO — July 27, 2006 —Cardwell; a strategy implementation consultancy for and developer of the web-based management automation tool, Connections Online; announces that it will speak at the upcoming 2006 CUNA Technology Council (CTC) Show in Orlando, Fla., on August 4, 2006. Cardwell President, Karla Norwood, will present for an hour-and-a-half on aligning information technology with a credit union’s overall business strategy.
Norwood’s presentation will explore the crucial role the IT department plays in helping a credit union execute its overall strategy, while understanding the credit union’s work processes and knowing the various line applications that users use. She plans to help attendees understand how strategy execution aligns with the actual work process. This timely topic is important because as business changes, reporting, measuring, and other corporate aspects also must change.
“Measuring all parts of the business is extremely important and IT needs to get the data to the people making decisions by providing timely and accurate data and reports to managers,”
Topics of Norwood’s presentation include understanding what strategy is and various learner objectives, such as:
- How to achieve a clearer definition of what “strategy” and “IT alignment” really means
- How to build a better communication process between IT and the senior team
- How to align and prioritize strategic initiatives using a scorecard
- How to better understand and support the information needs that support the business processes and business strategies of the organization
- Tips on developing a culture that is supportive to aligning strategy and IT.
Cardwell presented 2005 CTC Show attendees with a half-day, pre-session seminar on ways credit unions can enhance their project management to increase productivity and provide enhanced service to members. As a result of last year’s presentation, Cardwell was invited back by the CTC to speak on IT alignment.
“We’re experts in the strategy execution area – strategy defines the work the credit union will be doing. Keeping everyone focused and on the same page regarding the credit union’s strategy and resources is the challenge,” says Norwood. “We feel that we have many insights and innovations to offer in this area. We are looking forward to, and are very honored to be speaking at this year’s CUNA Technology Council show.”
