What Has Changed?
From July 2nd to July 8th, outgoing email from our Connections Online production server was occasionally failing due to DNS caching issues that prevented us from reaching our outgoing email provider. This kept us from sending out temporary password and survey reminder emails. To address the issue, we have switched outgoing email providers. In the process, we have also consolidated the email addresses we use and updated our email authentication practices. These changes should also fix issues that some of our clients had with receiving forum post notifications.
The following changes have been made to our outgoing email:
- We have phased out using the auto@col4.com email address in favor of only using the support@connectionsonline.net address.
- Up until now, we had an SPF record in our DNS settings to help authenticate our email, but we have now added DKIM records for all emails except for our forum post notifications.
- We have also added a DMARC record to help other email servers communicate with us about email issues.
What do you need to do?
None of our changes require any action by our clients. If you have had issues with our emails in the past, you may just notice that they work now. If you continue to have any issues with our automated emails, please contact us at support@connectionsonline.net immediately.
