Personal Development Goals within Connections Online are designed to help individuals grow in their roles and prepare for future opportunities. These goals can be set by yourself or collaboratively with a mentor, focusing on areas like skill-building, leadership development, or professional effectiveness.
Typically, individuals set 2 to 4 personal development goals within a performance period, aiming to enhance their skills and effectiveness. Each goal is designed to be achievable within about 3 months, ensuring steady progress throughout the year.
Each personal development goal can have up to 5 measures, which are specific steps designed to help achieve the goal. These measures act as actionable milestones that guide progress toward completing the goal within the designated timeframe.
Common examples of personal development goals might include:
-
Enhancing a specific skill (e.g., improving analytical thinking, project management, or communication)
-
Expanding industry knowledge (e.g., staying updated on lending regulations or credit union best practices)
-
Developing leadership capabilities (e.g., taking on mentorship roles or leading initiatives)
-
Improving efficiency (e.g., refining workflow strategies or adopting new productivity tools)
-
Building stronger professional relationships (e.g., networking, strengthening collaboration, or enhancing team dynamics)
If you're looking to set meaningful goals, it can be helpful to make them SMART—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
