Posting Related Links on Connections Online
Web addresses as related links: Websites input as related links must start the link with http:// (IE)
Network drive documents as related links: Microsoft browsers do not open documents that are locally mapped (like the c: drive of the computer). Instead of using a local mapped drive, use a network shared drive to link to the file. The URL should start with the \\server name\share name\file. The spaces between words on the file name are replaced with numbers and % signs you see (it’s called character escaping).
If the URL for a related link is also used as the name for the link, breaking up the long URL with spaces will keep it from stretching the page layout in IE. Firefox seems to line-wrap long words.

Just as a follow-up to this, we no longer support the
\\machine\share\folder\file or file:// formats. We only
support links to valid Web locations.
If you have a drive shared on your internal network that
you would like to make available through Related Links in
Connections Online, you should set the drive up as a Web
Share. For more information about Web Shares, see
