This 30 minute discussion is entitled "No Surprises". We are very pleased that Tom O’Shea (the CEO of Aspire Credit Union) is going to share some innovations and best practices on linking Connections with the performance evaluation process. So how do you handle the year-end discussion of overall performance? How do you integrate performance software tools? How do you link performance to compensation? What key lessons have been learned? What challenges remain? How do you make the experience enjoyable (…well almost)! Listen to Tom's answers to these questions...

Jim Cardwell’s March Educational Webinar “Surviving Hell Week” Jim Cardwell Speaker
The presentation’s purpose was to provide change management practices to effectively help your organization quickly implement the adjustments needed to navigate these challenging waters.
Some key points regarding effectively managing transitions:
· Under communicating is a problem – during these unclear times, employees really don’t know what’s going on. Be very clear about how you propose to approach and solve these new challenges. The following are areas that need clarification when communicating to employees:
o Your expectations and strategy have to be crystal clear
o Your priorities need to be revisited – select the critical few (most important) and put the rest in the queue
o Your master plan needs to be understood by everyone – they need to see and feel confident about the path you are taking to keep the business moving forward
o You need to be the company’s biggest cheer leader – demonstrate your “sense of urgency” – with a positive “can do” attitude
· As stress increases for employees (especially at the front line) overloading them with new training, new products, and new systems is too much – overload needs to decrease
· Use Connections to support these key points to help manage these transitions
o Reinforce fundamentals
o Revisit and clarify your plan
o Recalibrate top-down alignment
o Communicate the changes being made, why they are being made, and what the risk is if you don’t change
o Use the Organization, Department and Individual dialogs to reinforce the organization’s response to the transitions…

This month’s session will be on Thursday, April 23rd, please mark your calendar.
Client Care Notes
We are excited to announce that we are creating a Customer Care position and Linda Schmidt, whom many of you know, will take on this new role. Her role will be support/help desk for your Connections Online Administrator. She will also be contacting your company regarding your Connections Online needs. Her contact information is lschmidt@cardwellgroup.com or 800.395.1410.
We are always adding to the Educational and Training Library. The Library contains links to instructional movies and recorded instructional webinars. The subject of these movies center around entering data into the major modules on the application. The Library link is www.connectionsonline.net/docs/training-library.doc
The User and Site Manuals are updated when new releases are in production. The link to the manuals is always the same but the version/date at the bottom of the manuals will be changed accordingly. The last update will be noted in the Training Library.
4.0 Tip of the Month
Connections Online Forum: We update the Connections Online Forum weekly with answers to issues, as well as tips on using the application. Forum: www.connectionsonline.net/forum When you register you can elect to get notifications of all new posts so you can stay up-to-date on tips, help desk questions and other support issues. This should be the first stop when seeking User support.
Related Links: The following are some suggestions from Bryan Siders, our developer, for creating the best structure for successfully using the Related Link functionality. Internet Explorer 7: Links with drive letters in them are not recommended. If you must link to network shared files, you should use the \\machine\share\folder\file format with no drive letter. FireFox requirement and IE7: To future-proof the link, however, you really should add web sharing to the folder where the files are located and then get to them by using http://machine/share/folder/file.
Intermittent Outage: Starting last Wednesday, you may have experienced intermittent outages with our website and Connections Online (version 3.2 or 4.0). This was due to a DDoS attack on Register.com which hosts our domain address. Bryan (our Chief Application Architect) has taken steps on our side to mitigate this from happening again. Please click this link for information your IT staff can use to solve the issue (if it ever happens again) within your own network www.connectionsonline.net/docs/register.doc
