The presentation’s purpose was to provide a tool to make project management more consistent and productive.
Jim started with some background on high-performance project management: In well-led companies, project management is considered a core business process and is deployed in a consistent fashion by leaders throughout the organization. Although run in a number of places, all projects share the same methodology and a consistent format. They run on one document platform, and are housed in one location that everyone can access. As project teams apply the same methodology to each new project, their proficiency improves. As the project management competency spreads throughout the organization, the project cycle time becomes faster and more efficient. As everyone becomes more proficient, the dependency on a few go-to people is minimized. Capacity is expanded.
To optimize the Project Connection element of the Connections process, project teams need to build a core competency in project management. Although the content will change, every project needs to follow a consistent, organization-wide process that is dependable and repeatable.
Everyone attending the webinar received an advanced copy of a new tool we have developed, called “A Process Flow for Developing and Implementing a Project”. It outlines the steps and accountabilities for building a Business case; developing a Project Plan; and, Implementing the Project Plan.

4.0 Tips of the Month Below is the list of the most recent updates: § Dialog Basic Role Comments – instead of the update button at the bottom of the edit box, there is a green arrow to the right that must be checked in order to save the comment. If the User doesn’t check the green check mark to save the comment, when the dialog is saved the comments will NOT be saved.
§ Project Tasks list on People Tab – Site Administrators may now select what to put on the People Tab’s Project Task list. By selecting the status on the Site page (for example, on the site page, site administrators can check just one status, i.e. “current”, or multiple status categories) only those projects from the checked status will appear on the People Tab. (Prior to this change,
§ Project Tasks list – the name of the role that the User has associated with the project is now listed.
§ Follow-up tasks on Dialogs – have been fixed to only show completed tasks from previous dialogs when they have been completed since that last dialog's date.
§ Dialog Follow-up tasks on the People Tab – the list of follow-ups that show up on the People Tab now hides completed items after 30 days. § Search Feature – a search field has been added at the top right of the page that can search names of organizations, departments, metrics, projects, and people (but not tasks). Simply type in the phrase or word you want to search on and the list of items you have security to view will be on the list. § Reports Module – reports are now printing html correctly (in normal fonts) on the printed document. § Web Text Editor – undo and redo buttons have been added. Also, on some of the text editor edit screens, the editing bar will “appear” when the cursor is in the edit box, and disappear when the cursor is not in the edit box. § Application speed – we continually improve the speed of the application. § Archiving on the Site Administration page – all archived events are now listed. The detail of the archived event is listed on a separate page (so the site page will load more quickly if there are a lot of archived items).
