Jim Cardwell’s Educational Webinar – How Do You Build Contagious Organization Momentum? Thursday, April 29th at 1:30 EST There are a couple of important elements of Connections that you may be underutilizing.
The Connections Framework sets clear targets and assigns performance accountability at all levels. The various Connections Dialogs provide an important feedback loop that is focused on participant recognition, team insight and collaborative problem solving. This is ALL good!
But to engage and build the enthusiasm of the full organization, it is important to add two additional elements: consistent organization communication and meaningful employee recognition. Interestingly, these elements create the feeling we are making a difference…
At this month’s Connect with Leaders session, I have assembled a panel of people from organizations who have done some interesting things in this area. I will tee up the topic, then let each panelist share what they have done, and the impact it has had. My guests are: Kerry Parker, CEO of A+ FCU in Austin, TX; Nancy Richardson, AVP of Human Resources at Jeanne D’Arc CU in Lowell, MA; and Tim Draper, Vice President of Marketing at Navigant CU in Providence, RI. You will walk away with insight, and ideas you can apply immediately. Click here to register for the webinar.
Jim Cardwell’s March Educational Webinar – “Linking Connections to Performance Evaluations and Compensation” – Guest Speaker Steven Stapp, San Francisco FCU
Is your performance evaluation system a carrot or a stick? In other words, are you motivated to get your performance evaluations done or do you get them done simply because you have to?
Also, how do your employees feel about their performance and how is it linked to the performance of your organization as a whole?
This was the opening line of questions San Francisco Federal Credit Union President and CEO, Steven Stapp, posed to attendees during the recent “Connect with Leaders” webinar that occurred March 30, 2010. The informative webinar focused on “Linking Connections to Performance Evaluations and Compensation,” using San Francisco FCU as a real-world example.
Stapp pointed out three problems many organizations experience with their Performance Appraisal System:
1. Reviews are not completed in a timely manner. 2. There is a disconnect between company results and individual performance. 3. Employees are not engaged with the evaluation because they feel they have no input.
To mitigate these issues, Stapp says you have to link the layers by building the three blocks of performance: organization, department, and individual. Implementing the strategy execution tool Connections Online last year has clarified performance targets at each level, which has allowed his credit union to align its resources and achieve positive performance outcomes on all three levels.
For individuals to perform at peak levels, Stapp explains that organizations must build performance blocks within Connections Online for each employee. The areas of individual performance include:
· Core value examples (Are they living the values of the organization’s performance culture?) · Basic role (Are they effectively performing in their day-to-day jobs?)
· Year-end goals (Are they making progress in achieving their department and individual performance contributions?)

Printing Reports with IE8: A quick fix, if you are getting extra blank pages when printing the Connection Reports with IE8 - When the report is open, next to the address line at the top of the page, there is an icon that looks like a ripped piece of paper that is called “compatibility mode” – click that and then print the report – it should print fine.
