Connections Online Releases Version 4.1
This Beta version is an update to the User Interface;
it did not change the database structure/functionality. Therefore, you are able to use User Interface 4.0 or 4.1 simultaneously.

Here are the main changes:

• The colored tabs are now all the same color so the application looks more like a Windows 7 application
• All the pop-up edit boxes are gone – there are two ways to edit now.  “In-line” editing, where you click on the pencil and the edit fields just “drop down” the page (similar to on-line banking when you pay a bill) or you can open the item and it opens to a full page rather than an edit window
• Check boxes to move items up or down or indented or out-dented are gone.  The changes to order will now be drag and drop
• For any tasks (projects, basic role, personal or dialog follow-ups) you can mark them as completed just by clicking the check at the beginning of the task row -- it will update the task as completed using the current date (you don’t need to open the task unless you want to add other information, like a comment)
• There is a new module on the People tab for Basic Role tasks
• There is a new module on the People tab for metrics you own elsewhere in the application – they will load in this box so you can see from your People tab what you need to update
• There is a new module that lists just the projects you are a member of
• There is a new, simpler module listing all of your tasks (you can just click on the check mark to mark as completed)
• There is new Dialog functionality – when you open a new dialog, the past dialog is on the right side of the page – click the green arrow and it automatically copies into the current agenda.  This will make creating agendas so much easier.  The same works for the Basic Role comments – you will see the comments from last month, just click the green arrow and they will automatically copy to the new edit window and you can edit that page accordingly.

Microsoft Excel Templates

Org Dept Simple Report

We have a simple report similar to the report from Version 3.2 for the Organization or Department Connections that allows people to export the Metric of Project list modules to either Excel or Word (some people want these modules in an MS Office format when preparing the Board package).  This does not replace any report on the report module.  Follow these instructions to use this report.  On your Organization or Department Tab, on the Related Link Module, create a related link, title the link Org Dept Simple Report.  In the link, copy and paste this link:  https://report.connectionsonline.net/Org3.2.aspx?sid=#SESSION#&s=#SITE#

Archiving

When you click the archive symbol on the archive module on the Site Admin page, it will take a few minutes to do the archiving before you will see the archived metric or projects on the site admin archive module.  Also, once the archiving process has completed, when you go to the specific Organization or Department tab and select the archive symbol, you will see the newly archived metrics and projects.  The list of metrics and projects will not necessarily appear as they do on the list on the main tab – they will be alphabetical.  However, you can use Control F (or the search function in Internet Explorer or Firefox) and type in the name of the metric or project and it will take you to that item and you can open it from the archive window. 

Once the metric or project has been archived, you can edit/delete the metric/project on the current main page (as the original is now archived). When archiving, the task does not move to the archived list, it is copied to the archived list.  It can then be deleted from the original location if you wish.  Keep in mind the archived item cannot be edited in any way, brought back to an active task or deleted.
