Connections Online Users Roundtable
September 26-27 in Las Vegas
(changed from last month’s newsletter – is now the end of the week instead of the first of the week)
Starts with a Kick-Off Dinner on Wednesday evening, September 25th
We are excited to announce that this year's Users Roundtable will be held in Las Vegas. Notice the date is in September this year instead of June. We hope you will be able to join us. Please let Linda Schmidt know if you are tentatively planning to attend so we can get an idea on the number to plan for email@example.com or 800-395-1410.
We will be using our time at the Connections Online Users Roundtable getting your feedback on what you need, and hearing best practice presentations. We will update you to new functionality on Version 4.1.
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
Connections Online Version 4.1
Our new Version 4.1 is out of beta and in full production. You can access the new site with this link: https://col.connectionsonline.net
Please have your Users use the new URL (link above). The beta version will still be accessible but will be used by our development team to test upcoming features. The 4.1 (COL URL) will use your production database (so you may have users on col.connectionsonline.net, beta.connectionsonline.net, and my.connectionsonline.net). We would like all users to use the URL https://col.connectionsonline.net and if you need (or want) to use 4.0 for any reason, you will see a link at the bottom of the page to open 4.0. We invite you to attend a scheduled 4.1 webinar (see webinar registration below). You will see that we have improved the efficiency of entering data by reducing the number of clicks to create and update the information in Connections as well as other improvements.
Note: Although we would like people to start using Version 4.1, Version 4.0 will continue to be available for use. There is a link at the bottom of the Connections page where you can switch to the other version.

Tips for the Month
There is a running total of the hours spent on a project at the top of the page under the project name. It adds up the hours in a straight sum from the hours on Task assignments. The total does not include dialog follow-up task hours, but that may be included in a future release.
Users Not Showing Up on Drop Down List
If you have Users not showing up on the drop down list, it is because they were assigned to departments that were deleted. You will need to reassign them to their current department or to the main Organization
to get them to show up for you.
Related Links Stopped Working?
This is due to a change in how browsers handle network links. You can read about it here: https://connectionsonline.zendesk.com/entries/20460488-Related-Links
We are currently working on a file share system that will be available in COL so that you will be able to upload documents as related links. In the meantime, if you choose to follow the workaround instructions in the above link, just make sure in Step 4, you enter the URL for the appropriate version that you are using: Version 4.0 is https://my.connectionsonline.net and for Version 4.1 it is https://col.connectionsonline.net
Excel Templates – One Time Sync
The Excel templates are a one-time sync – so for example, you want to enter a list of tasks with all the task information, you would create the project in COL, add the team members names, download and open the project tasks template, add the task information in the template, and sync to COL (this template works in both 4.0 and 4.1 – if you are using 4.1, and it asks if you want to open the project in COL just say no and then go to the page where you have created the project and click F5 to refresh the page and your tasks will appear.) If you sync it again (or you already have tasks in the project) it will “append” the tasks to the ones you already have in the project.
