Business Case, Project Scope and Evaluation Criteria
Our project methodology reflects a simple, project standard methodology:
Project Strategy
-
Decide on a definition of a project.
A simple project definition: “A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service. Temporary means that the project has an end date. Unique means that the project's end result is different than the results of other functions of the organization.” You can tell when the work you are considering is not a project because it is not temporary.
Determine who will review and make decisions about projects that your organization wants to accomplish.

Business Case and ROI
Once it is determined that you will do a project, you can create it in the Organization or Department Connection Tab – set the status as “Long-term Queued,” and select the team.

Scorecards
Determine barriers and issues in prioritizing
- Develop solutions to overcoming barriers
- Project Alignment with Business and Business Strategy
Project Implementation
- Project Phases
- Project Schedule (Milestones and Tasks)
- Project Meeting and Project Communication
- Project Close-out and Lessons Learned
The Project Strategy piece typically establishes the ROI, alignment to strategy, regulatory requirements, or improving a scorecard goal. Project Implementation follows after the projected has been accepted, created in the application and prioritized.
In the application, a project is created on the Org or Department Page.

Project Filter
The filter area above the project list can be used to narrow down the list of projects that are displayed. For example in order to show only active projects that are from the Marketing department, or have Marketing in the project name, you could use is:active Marketing. The following columns can be searched across at the same time to show only the projects you are interested in at the moment.
- Name
- From (project ancestor)
- Start Date
- End Date
- Phase
- Team Members
- Hours entered
- Completion status (uses the same tokens as the Search bar)
- is:active
- is:completed
- is:near-due
- is:past-due
- is:8020
Project Completion Statuses (mostly used in reports and icons in lists)
- Not Started: No Actual Start date
- Active: Actual Start date is set, no Actual End date set
- Near Due: Projected End date is within the near highlight value in your organization settings. By default, this value is 45 days.
- Past Due: Actual Start date is set, and it's past the Projected End date
- Completed: Actual End date is set
